Matters 582 God forgives Sin
Your life with
God, begins when you accept his gift for the forgiveness of your sins. Your day of redemption has been accomplished
by the grace of God. Your debt has been
paid. You no longer have to offer animal
and blood sacrifices. You can take joy
in living your life for the glory of God.
To be born again and converted to a child of God!
It starts with the
forgiveness of sins. Let’s search the scripture
and see what God’s witnesses tell us about sin forgiveness.
In the Old
Testament, the priests or Levites made an atonement for your sin using the
animal sacrifice on the alter. This
atonement, payment or reparation was performed by the priest during the
religious offering. From these two
witnesses, it is clear that the priest did not forgive you of your sins. His religious act was meant to please the
Lord and be an offering meant for forgiveness.
That offering was your payment for sin to God, seeking the forgiveness
of sins that only God can make.
Leviticus 4:26 –
And he shall burn all his fat upon the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of
peace offerings: and the priest shall make an atonement for him as concerning
his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.
Leviticus 5:9,10,13
– And he shall sprinkle of the blood of the sin offering upon the side of the
altar; and the rest of the blood shall be wrung out at the bottom of the altar:
it is a sin offering.And he shall offer the second for a burnt offering,
according to the manner: and the priest shall make an atonement for him for his
sin which he hath sinned, and it shall be forgiven him. And the priest shall make an atonement for
him as touching his sin that he hath sinned in one of these, and it shall be
forgiven him: and the remnant shall be the priest’s, as a meat offering.
Leviticus 19:22 –
And the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass
offering before the Lord for his sin which he hath done: and the sin which he
hath done shall be forgiven him.
Exodus 30:10 – And
Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the
blood of the sin offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make
atonement upon it throughout your generations: it is most holy unto the Lord.
Numbers 15:25 –
And the priest shall make an atonement for all the congregation of the children
of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them; for it is ignorance: and they shall
bring their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto the Lord, and their sin
offering before the Lord, for their ignorance:
When you seek the
forgiveness of your sins, David’s prayer in Psalms was a request for you to
seek peace and purification of the heart away from the pain of sin. Pray for a righteous way to serve God.
Psalm 25:16-18 –
Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and
afflicted. The troubles of my heart are
enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.
Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.
In the New
Testament, Paul made it clear that the blood
sacrifice of bulls and goats alone cannot take away sins. The offering by the priest can never take
away sins.
Hebrews 10:4 – For
it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Hebrews 10:11 –
And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same
sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
The witnesses made
it is clear that only God has the power to forgive sins.
Matthew 9:5-6 –
For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and
walk? But that ye may know that the Son
of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,)
Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
Mark 2:7 – Why
doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
Luke 5:21 – And
the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which
speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone.
Hebrews 1:3 – Who
being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and
upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged
our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
By God’s grace and his offering of Jesus on the cross, God made it clear
that you can have redemption through the blood offering of Jesus. Following your cleansing, you are to walk in
the light.
Ephesians 1:7 – In whom we have redemption through his blood, the
forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Colossians 1:14 – In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the
forgiveness of sins:
1 John 1:7 – But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have
fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us
from all sin.
Jesus had no
sin. He told you that his blood was to
be shed for the remission of sins.
Matthew 26:28 –
For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the
remission of sins.
Jesus Christ offered
his own blood for a sin offering, so you can turn from the dead works of animal
sacrifice and spend your life, serving the living God.
Romans 3:25 – Whom
God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare
his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the
forbearance of God;
Hebrews 9:14 – How
much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered
himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the
living God?
1 Peter 1:19 – But
with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without
spot:
Revelation 1:5 –
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of
the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and
washed us from our sins in his own blood,
At least five New
Testament witnesses testified that your sins are forgiven by the blood of Jesus
Christ, alone. Accept the forgiveness of
your sins, turn from the devil and walk with the Lord. God made you whole! Now go and live your life for the glory of
God, unless a worse thing comes unto you!
John 8:23-24 – And
he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world;
I am not of this world. I said therefore
unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he,
ye shall die in your sins.
John 5:14 –
Afterward Jesus finds him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art
made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
