Repentance – POE
Bible Matters 235: Repentance:
Preponderance of Evidence
Romans 11:29 – For the gifts and calling of
God are without repentance.
The preponderance of evidence standard will be
used to confirm God’s position on sin. Does
God want you to repent and turn from sin to be a child of God? Let’s find out.
Testimony:
When you repent of your sins and accept Jesus
as your Lord and Savior, God sends you the Holy Ghost to dwell inside of you. You
are a new vessel. If you sin openly then
you blaspheme the Holy Ghost and are in danger of eternal damnation.
Matthew 12:31 – Wherefore
I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but
the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
Mark 3:29 – But he
that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in
danger of eternal damnation:
Luke 12:10 – And
whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him:
but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
In another example, Ananias sold a property. He did not give all what he said. He kept back part. His reward was death. When you repent of your sins, you turn from
all your sins. You don’t keep any
back.
Acts 5:2-5 – And kept back part of the price,
his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the
apostles’ feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to
lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles
it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine
own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not
lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave
up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
Judas walked as an Apostle for Jesus
Christ. He was a pawn in God’s plan for
salvation. When he repented of his sins,
by works, he gave the sin money back. How
many of us repent and still like the rewards of sin.
Matthew 27:3 – Then Judas, which had betrayed
him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the
thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
John the Baptist baptized with water for sin
forgiveness. Jesus baptized you with the
power of the Holy Ghost to refrain from sin unto a life of righteousness. God wants your heart, not lip service. Jesus tells you to repent of your sins.
Matthew 3:11 – I indeed baptize you with water
unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I
am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Matthew 4:17 – From that time Jesus began to
preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of
heaven is at hand.
Mark 1:15 – And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand:
repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Mark 2:17 – When Jesus heard it, he saith unto
them, They that are whole have no need of the
physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but
sinners to repentance.
Luke 5:32 – I came
not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Acts 26:18 – To
open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of
Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance
among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
It is clear that you are to repent of your
sins to be part of the kingdom of God.
Jesus does not want you to perish.
When you choose Jesus, you choose to live a righteous life for the glory
of God. To go and sin no more. No longer walking I darkness, but walk as
children of light. That is your
reasonable service.
Mark 6:12 – And they went out, and preached
that men should repent.
Luke 13:3 – I tell
you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Luke 24:47 – And
that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all
nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
John 8:11-12 – She said, No man, Lord. And
Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go,
and sin no more. Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not
walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Acts 26:18 – To
open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of
Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance
among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
1 John 1:6-7 – If we say that we have
fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the
light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his
Son cleanseth us from all sin.
2 Peter 3:9 – The Lord is not slack concerning
his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not
willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Ephesians 5:8 – For ye were sometimes
darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
2 Corinthians 7:10 – For godly sorrow worketh
repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world
worketh death.
Revelation 2:5,16 – Remember therefore from
whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come
unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except
thou repent. Repent; or else I will come
unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
When you repent of your sins, out of a pure
heart, God sends the gift of the Holy Ghost.
The Holy Ghost comes upon those that repent of their sins with a heart
toward God. To be pure in heart with
your soul purified. To see God, as a
servant of righteousness unto life.
Matthew 5:8 – Blessed
are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Acts 11:18 – When they heard these things,
they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the
Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
1 Peter 1:21-23 – Who by him do believe in
God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and
hope might be in God. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth
through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one
another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed,
but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Romans 6:18 – Being then made free from sin,
ye became the servants of righteousness.
Acts 2:38 – Then Peter said unto them, Repent,
and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission
of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 3:19 – Repent ye therefore, and be
converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing
shall come from the presence of the Lord;
Decision:
God hates sin and desires you to repent of your sins and with a pure
heart to enjoy the Kingdom of God. God
wants you to be part of the Kingdom of God here on earth by believing in Jesus
Christ and living a righteous life for him.
When you believe in Jesus, you accept by faith that by abiding in his
doctrine he offers you the gift of eternal life. (See Bible Matter 228:
Salvation POE.) Today, repent of you
sins, pray and start your walk with Jesus.
Pray for strength to lead you to a righteous
life, in the glory of God. Confess your
faults one to another for accountability.
Continue your walk in the light with a brother or sister in Christ, as there
is strength in numbers. Use the
gathering and works of Christians to build your strength and keep you from
temptation.
Acts 8:22 – Repent therefore of this thy
wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven
thee.
James 5:16 – Confess your faults one to
another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent
prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
To God be the glory in all you do, Amen.
