Sin Not

Bible Matters 304 – Sin Not

Salvation in Jesus Christ is between you and Jesus.  When you come to Jesus, you accept him as the Son of God who gives life to the world.  Jesus is everlasting life.  Jesus shed his blood for the forgiveness of your sins.  Jesus tells you to repent and turn from your sin.  You will not perish, but have everlasting life.

Luke 13:3 – I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

When you repent of your sins, you turn to Jesus and then you are born again in the spirit as a child of God.  No longer a child of the devil.  Jesus says you must be born again!  The Holy Ghost comes into your heart, to direct you.  You are still human and likely to sin again.  If you do sin, then confess and pray to directly to God.  Don’t let sin, turn into death. After you repent of you sins, Jesus doesn’t have to die and shed his blood again to forgive you of your sins.  Confess your sins daily and turn from your sinful habits!  Never go to bed with sin in your heart that offends God.

Hebrews 6:4-6 – For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Your sins are forgiven by the grace of God.  When you speak directly to Jesus, Jesus forgives sin.   Not through a man or a priest, or through sacrificial offerings.  Your sin is forgiven by the grace of God.

Ephesians 1:7 – In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Luke 7:48 – And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

Sin in the New Testament also includes those things that offend God, including the sins of the flesh.

Galatians 5:19-21 – Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these ; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Now, being free from sin, you are to live the will of God and preach the gospel.  Why…to find life and to live in peace.  To keep his commandments and walk as Jesus walked.  To hear God’s word and obtain favor of the Lord.

1 John 2:2-3,5-6 – And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.  And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.  But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.  He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

1 John 3:9,11,16,18-20,22-24  – Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.  For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.  Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.  My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.  And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.  For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.  And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.  And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.  And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

1 Peter 3:11 – Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

Proverbs 8:33,35-36 – Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.  For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.  But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

Jesus came into the world, so that you may see.

John 9:39 – And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.

This past week was a teaching minute.  No one likes to pay taxes.  What did Jesus tell us?

Mark 12:17- And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled at him.

Three months ago, my brother-in-law passed away and for the last two months, I’ve been trying to sell his 2001 Camaro Z28.  After lower the price several times, a Chevy man came by and wanted to buy the Camaro.  He decided to buy the car and gave a deposit.  He went home and when it came time to coordinate the meeting between us at the title and license bureau, he made it clear that he did not want to claim the selling price of the car for taxes.  The selling price will be on the probate documents and the only thing that was acceptable for us was to claim the selling price at the title and license bureau.  He said that if he had to claim the selling price and pay the taxes owed, he would cancel his offer.  We told him that is fine and that the deal was considered cancelled.  Legally he backed out of the deal, so we would not have had to return his deposit.  To live in peace, we then set up a time to return his deposit.  At the meeting, he said thank you and that he was going to have to read his bible.

Following God’s word is not often convenient.  God wants you do what is right, in deed and in truth.  Living the word of God will be your witness!  It is that simple.

To God be the glory in all you do, Amen.
