Bible Matters 382: True God

As you study God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Ghost, the term true God reveals itself in the New Testament.  Without spending any time discussing our past lessons, let’s look at the witness testimonies of the true God. 

The disciples recognized that Jesus taught the way of God in truth.  Jesus didn’t care to please men.  He was more concerned with the truth in God’s word.  It was better for the people to understand the will of God, than the will of man.  Knowing and doing the will of God is the road to heaven. 

Matthew 22:16 – And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man : for thou regardest not the person of men.

When you receive the words that Jesus spoke, you will know that God is true.  God did not limit the power he gave Jesus through the Holy Ghost.  He gave Jesus his power.   When you believe on Jesus, you believe on God.

John 3:33-36 – He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.  For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.  The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Life eternal can be had, when you know the only true God and his son, Jesus Christ.  When you believe, you sin not.  You understand the will of God.  Being born of God, you stay clear of the wicked one and keeping yourself from idols.  As a new man you are created in righteousness and sin not.

John 17:3 – And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

1 John 5:17-21 – All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.  We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.  And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.  And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.  Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Romans 3:4,23-24 – God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Ephesians 4:23-27,30 – And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;  And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.  Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.  Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:  Neither give place to the devil.  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

1 Thessalonians 1:6,8-10 – And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:  For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.  For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;  And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

Christ, as the Son of God did not enter the holy place of the temple, but into heaven itself. Bearing his self for the sins of many.  You look to him, unto salvation and eternal life.

Hebrews 9:24,28 – For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:  So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

The true sayings of God can be found in the Jesus Christ.  See to it, that you have the testimony of Jesus unto eternal life.

Revelation 19:9-10 – And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.  And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Once again, these testimonies make it clear that the New Testament salvation message is reinforced by the three persons of the trinity, God the Father, Jesus as the Son of God, and the Holy Ghost sent by God.  God the Father is the one and only true God.  Both Jesus and the Holy Ghost were sent by God.
